This is another type of flying I love to do. Most of the pictures are from the Smokey Mountains in Tennessee - just ridge soaring up to the cloud base ... OK, a bit higher than that.

Once high enough, I turn the vario off, and just soar with the birds. Paraglider soaring is very relaxing, calm and beautiful. It is like sitting in an arm-chair and watching the world below, then drifting slowly along the mountain, listening to the wind. Beautiful. I highly recommend this to anyone. In fact a lot of instructors give demo flights for a reasonable fee. It is very, very well worth it.

As you can see the weather was great for soaring, we had a nice strong wind, that got me pretty high up. This was a bit over 45 minutes soaring according to my vario. The paraglider is not too much bigger than a school backpack, and easily fits into the closet. Just thinking about it - I keep my new "airplane" in the closet. And it just so much fun!
