Raspberry Pi clusters | |||
These are the two Raspberry Pi clusters I built. This is Tableau Conference 2016, where I have to say, I had quite a bit of success. Many company leaders caught on the spirit of innonvation. I had many, many job offers that week. It even got me on the main displays multiple times during the week. I evaluates I believe about 40+ different databases at various times. I even had Hadoop, HBase and a few others installed. Eventually, I put MySQL on it, and 3 million records, distributed, and I wrote a Perl multithreaded connector to each server. I also utilized a few memory tables for final aggregation, so in the end I pulled, grouped, counted 3million records in 0.57 seconds. Yeah, that's what the hype was all about. I did not do anything too fancy with the Pi Zero cluster - although I put SQLite on them and they were blazing fast. Eventually I ran out of time and I had to move on to more boring, and mundane projects at work. I could not believe that these little machines, running an entire operating system and all the data from a microSD card are so capable. It was still a blast |
